The works on panel are an exploration of solitude, this repetitive cyclical nature of self reflection and how a sense of self is intertwined with places we inhabit ad the art/world we consume.
Thinking about how an artist's/capitalist identities have this burden to find a unique voice, gain new insight and yet we consistently draw from the world around us so that art imitates life and life imitates art etc. etc.
The Selfie in mirror and Jug are from the same bathroom in a family friend's home in London, each time I stay I feel I gain some sort of new insight. In the act of painting these places, it's almost like marking my place - marking that it was home at that moment.
The bed is from a residency in Camaiore hills in Italy where I stayed after a traumatic burglary in Venice. There is an uncanny silence in the still beauty of that place.
