Daniel Malarkey is a curator and advisor whose practice combines narrative construction and a focus on cultural legacy. Approaching his work with the vision of a filmmaker, Malarkey builds compelling stories through art collections, bringing together works that speak to both contemporary relevance and enduring iconicity. His practice foregrounds the rediscovery of overlooked artists and the nurturing of emerging voices, situating their contributions within broader historical and cultural dialogues.
Malarkey’s curated exhibitions include Last Night I Dreamt of Manderley (2025, Alison Jacques, London), a landmark group show that weaves memory and imagination into a layered conversation spanning generations, mediums, and perspectives. Other notable exhibitions include Luis Caballero: A Deliberate Defiance (2024, Cecilia Brunson, London), The Sublime in Nature (2021, Cork Street, London), and Courage Exists in Us (2020, Dickinson Gallery, London). Across these projects, his curatorial focus balances artistic innovation with storytelling, reflecting on how art becomes iconic, deeply personal, and historically significant.
Beyond exhibitions, Malarkey plays an active role in mentoring artists at pivotal moments in their careers, guiding them through critical junctures of creative and professional development. He has curated talks and tours for major institutions, including the Design Museum, the V&A, and Masterpiece Art Fair, and served a three-year term on the Leadership Council of Grinnell College Museum of Art (2018–2022).
Whether fostering collections or championing the forgotten and the emerging, Malarkey’s work reimagines how art shapes identity, history, and the narratives we carry forward.
